It’s All About Pastels; How To Rock Pastel Nails

nail polish review - uk blogger

One of this summers and actually this years, hottest fashion trends is pastel colours. I really love that pastels have lasted so long as they look so elegant and are the perfect spring summer colours for outfits, make up and nails especially.

My nails are really in need of a good manicure at the moment as i’ve been neglecting my weekly manicures for some time now. I think it’s more that I like to change my nail colour so much at the moment that it’s just not worth paying out for. I’ve found some fab colours for this seasons looks and some really quirky nail polish bottles too, which I love. Not a fan of the plain old nail varnish bottle!

I’ve gone all colourful and chosen some standout colours for this post. There are tons more out there but these were just the best of a great bunch of pastel nail colours. You can find all sorts of colours on the highstreet at the moment,  but I find you normally get a better choice of colour and brand when shopping online so I’ve included the links to my choices below. Most of them have a few other pastel colour choices as well, so you can go pastel crazy!

Absolutely love the Yves Saint Laurent La Laque Couture collection. Obviously it’s YSL so it’s luxury and the packaging is gorgeous as usual. I went for the colour ‘Green Peace’, which is a pearlised pastel colour with a bit of an iridescent glow (can’t really tell from the pic). It looks really nice on and is long lasting too so is a great staple for the summer. Pretty much goes with any outfit as well…bonus!

If you are a cult nail lover you must have heard of WAH Nails, right?!? They used to be based in Oxford Street’s Topshop and are infamous for their super cool and extremely funky nail art. Well guess what…they have now brought out their own line of nail polish. It’s still a bit under the radar at the moment but you can get quite a bit of the range, including the WAH Nails Pastels Collection online at ASOS.

The colours go on really well and give a really nice thick (but not too thick) coverage, so two coats are more than enough. The pastels collection also comes in a mint green, two shades of pink and a peach colour. That’s your whole summer wardrobe covered 😉

This is one of my favourite brands and has been for quite some time. Soigné Botanique Nail Polish is a really cool environmentally responsible brand that has some fab colours. This brand has a ton of pastel and nude shades so you will definitely find that perfect summer shade here. The bottle has a real lux feel too. I’ve chosen ‘Limonade Rose’ &  ‘Orge’ for my fav pastel picks. Coverage is really smooth too with Soigné, so it’s not that hard to get a perfect finish.

Last but not least I’ve gone with the new L’Oreal Paris Infallible collection. It’s a double ended, 2-step nail polish, that lasts up to 12 days. It’s smooth to apply and has a high shine finish too. The design is quite unique and it took me a minute to figure out that it actually separates in to two small nail varnishes, one colour and one top coat.  I’ve chosen the ‘Everlasting Peppermint’, ‘Yum Gum Non-Stop’ and ‘Candyheart’ for my pastel favs. There are 4 other pastel colours available with matching tinted top coat shades.

Hope you like my round up and will be trying out some of these for yourself soon 🙂

Keep an eye out for my next nail post which will give you some great tips on really simple but amazing nail art for this summer.

Which nail colours will you be wearing this season?
